School of Social Work Honor Roll
加尔松Joise, 87年
加尔松Joise '12, M.S.W. '13 has experienced the transformational power that mental health support and access to postsecondary education can have on people’s lives and is passionate about increasing access to both. She is the director of Learning for Life (L4L) at Rhode Island College. L4L helps retain students by providing them with case management services to overcome obstacles they encounter in their lives while working towards their academic goals. 在这个角色中, Joise provides leadership to a team of social work interns, 研究生, and staff to ensure unity around guiding principles for student-centered practice. 在L4L之前, Joise worked as an independently licensed clinical social worker at Stevens Treatment Programs and the Inner You Counseling Center. 在那里, she provided trauma-informed care to children, 青少年, 成年人, 家庭, and couples of diverse backgrounds and needs. Joise received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Rhode Island College and gives back to RIC by serving as an adjunct faculty member in the School of Social Work and through her involvement in the School of Social Work Diversity Task Force. She is also currently in the RIC/URI Ph.D. in education program and is in the process of opening her private practice, Courageous Hearts Counseling Center, which will serve the Latinx/a/o community in Rhode Island.
